It was a delight to hear NPR Northern Community Radio Staff Phenologist John Latimer share his observations of the timings of natural events over the past 40 years. He spoke at the third annual joint meeting of CMAS, MN Master Naturalists, St. Cloud Flower and Garden Club, Wild Ones and Stearns County Horticultural Society on April 21st at St. John’s University. John pointed out how this kind of data is very helpful to scientists, who have been known to request his extensive observations. He also visits schools across the state, and invites students to share their Phenology Reports every Tuesday morning on KAXE.
