Thanks to the local Chapter of the Citizens Climate Lobby and the St Cloud area Leaque of Women voters for hosting a presentation by J. Drake Hamilton , Managing Director of Science Policy at Fresh Energy, on Saturday, November 15, at the St Cloud Regional Library.
We heard about the good news of how Minnesota plans to meet its clean energy goals.
We learned about the Sherco Solar project that will produce 710 MW of energy on completion in 2026. The solar farm will have a land use cover of native prairie plants and pollinators with grazing sheep for plant height control.
We learned of Cargill’s promotion of planting a cover crop of Winter Camelina to be used in sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). We were shown that cooperation between industries, local governments and regulators, with decisions and planning based on scientific data and analysis, can produce positive results.
